Ski Village travellers site and new development.

Recommended Posts

I remember reading somewhere that it was starting to look poor and run down before it first caught fire, and that people were going to rival places instead.

Possibly true, artificial snow is better than dendex or snowflex, but it was definitely still open and still being used.

It died due to being set on fire.

Hmmm...

... fear not!

It seems that we are in safe hands and the combined brainpower of officialdom at the Town Hall are already prepared for just such an eventuality by also including plans for a lake on the site...

... although knowing that lot, I wouldn't be surprised if we have the first ski slope to be closed due to flooding.

Why would the council want scruffy old caravans anyway near their shiny new multi million pound development ?

It's not their development, it's privately funded

Bit of a coincidence. I was looking on Google Earth over the weekend at Parkwood Springs'.  I noticed some vans and a caravan and i wondered what they were.!

Back in the early 80's me and my mates used to meet up at parkwood springs on a sunday on our motorbikes.

Along with many other bikers, we used to have a real blast up there.

Getting a clapped out Honda XL 125S  up one of those steep hills was a challenge.!

One time a fella did a jump and landed so hard he put a dint into his petrol tank with his doodahs...! I will never forget that.

The Police never minded us being up there, they used to come and park up and watch us..! (On the look out for stolen bikes too.!)

Great times.  I hope the new venture works out...Bit of an odd place for a Sports venue though..?

My best guess is, I bet he never forgot it either.

When it was in operation it was closed several times due to flooding. On one occasion the staff from the boot room and others were speeding down the slope on snowboards and skimming across the pond that had built up at the bottom.

Glad to hear that this development has a new access road planned as not having one was a big drawback for the original slope.

The resident new age travellers who have resided at Parkwood Springs for many years are to be evicted from their Holme  later this year .

It seems as though big business has cast its eye on the site once again and backed by our caring Council have decided that the resident  folk who live a care free life in their buses, caravans and  lean to mixtures of corrugated self build dwellings are a blot on the land scape who will be in the way of any profit making venture that will arise on the site be it ski slopes or other out door activity.

The residents harm no one, they are in a small corner at the top of the site that could  be (is) screened off from the main area ,why do our planners and so called socialists Council behave in a way that ruins the lives of of folk who for whatever reason prefer to live a free and different life.
