Good Gastroenterologist in Sheffield ?

Recommended Posts

My husband was diagnosed with atrophic gastritis and is really suffering with feeling sick after having food and not being able to sleep properly due to getting globus sensation at night etc.
He had gastroscopy done in early January, but was told that he now needs to wait for 9 months to discuss the results with a consultant.  As he is really feeling unwell and worried (atrophic gastritis highly increases cancer possibility) and it seems impossible to fight through the NHS system we would like to see somebody privately, but would like to rely on personal recommendation as he was already being 'treated' for a good few years without any positive impact.

We would even go to a different city in the UK if you can recommend somebody.

Any advice or recommendations is greatly received and appreciated.

Sorry I can't recommend a good gastroenterologist.

Does your husband have any medical cover at work? If not, does anyone, e.g. senior managers or directors? The  medical provider may be willing to share with your  husband their list of gastroenterologists who undertake private practice. This might help put you in touch with someone who can help more quickly. In the first instance, your husband might  write to the director that is responsible for his function at work to get his support to approach HR with the question. HR should be able to put him in touch with the provider, if there is one.
