They were found to have broken the law.  Their "victory" was built on deceit.

At least they didn't steal £8, 000000 from the public coffers to disseminate their deceit.

What about the parasitic wealthy elite - BoJo, Rees - Mogg, Farage etc - that are desperate for us to leave the EU so they can trash workers rights, flog off the NHS to the highest bidder and whatever other jolly wheezes they got up their sleeves. Isn't going to be the working class who benefit from Brexit.

Tony Benn RIP and Dennis Skinner wasn't/isn't scared to vote with their opposite numbers if it meant staying true to what they believe in.

They had the sense to see the bigger picture / longer game.

On the subject of polls, if EVERY credible poll since 2016 including one of 20,000 people say that between 52-56% of those polled support remaining in the EU you can be fairly sure that the majority of UK citizens support remaining in the EU.

For the umpteenth time, the size of a poll is of secondary importance to the design of the survey.  A well-designed survey with an unbiased sample of 20,000 people is very likely to give a more accurate representation of the Will of the People than is a badly-designed poll, with a biased sample, of, say,  33,577,342 people

[A vote in which it was compulsory for all eligible voters to take part would have been a different matter.]

A tiny number of individuals belonging to the establishment elite support Leaving the EU, for their own reasons. The overwhelming majority desperately want the UK to Remain in the EU. This includes the banks and global finance, big business, over eighty per cent of our political class, the heads of the civil service, the rich, wealthy out of touch celebrities and the affluent middle class.

It is totally irrelevant how many people voted remain in a non binding non compulsory poll designed to get Cameron out of trouble with UKIP.

What is relevant however, is that in a poll driven by fake news, dog whistle slogans, relentless racist and xenophobic headlines in national newspapers, millions of dollars spent by Russia and the far right and alt right in the US, the Leave campaign couldn't even persuade 40% of the electorate to support them.

What must be even more relevant then, by definition, is that remaining in the EU, which is apparently so wonderful, could only muster an even lower percentage of the electorate, whether you measure that by percentage of turnout or percentage of all eligible voters.

It. Was. Less. Than. Voted. Leave. Which part can't you understand?

Most of what they warned about is actually happening. That is not deceit is it.

Repeating the 'but polls get it wrong' mantra just makes you look stupid.

Define "credible"? Are they just the ones you like the outcome of? Because some polls have put leave ahead still.

Besides, the "polls get it wrong" claim is far from stupid. Almost every poll on the run up to the referendum put remain comfortably ahead. Yet leave still won. Maybe it's shy leaver syndrome where people don't want to be sneered at down the phone when asked how they would vote?

Exactly.

Davis gets paid £3k an hour by JCB. Farage is on well north of £500k a year. Many more examples.

How are they not the elite?

The truth is they’re just one faction of the elite fighting against another faction of the elite. The Tory party has been torn apart by exactly this for decades.

Polls are consistently favouring remain. Last one I looked at was 53-42 in favour of staying.

Politicians do need to take this in account.

The last poll I looked at had Leave on 45 per cent and Remain on 55 percent.

This was taken on 22 June 2016.

I wonder how that turned out?

It's amusing that you seem to be proud of not having looked at any evidence in the last 2.5 years!
