So people will not be able to travel, work or retire in the EU anymore because their right to do so will be removed?

So it is the word automatic that is causing the problems. The fact is you will still be able to do those things but now it will not be automatic and you will have to put a bit of effort into it instead.

Of course it is, because they are no longer automatic rights. There are alternatives, but they are not automatic. I have to apply without guarantee of success, or pay for something I’ve never had to pay for.

If you were in my shoes you’d understand the difference. I’m back and forward to the EU at least every month. My wife is from there. Two of my kids live there.

This is a huge change

Freedom is what is being removed - now you can do it for free - but in the future, you will have to have  enough money to do it - you are not free to do it.

So our freedom is being removed by the decision to leave the EU.

So its not freedom you are objecting to but the fact it at the moment free, as you have already put it. To go anywhere to either travel or reside costs whether you need a visa or not. After brexit I will still be free to go where I like in the EU but like in the past I may need a visa to do so and will have to pay for one. I think £52 (if it is that) is a very small slice of the expense of any travel.

I’m not just talking about travel. Freedom of movement is not fundamentally about going on holiday.

You don’t understand this at all it seems.

No, its the fact that I will have to pay for the privilege and book in beforehand and inform the system of my plans for movement - whereas at the moment, I have freedom of movement on the spur of the moment.

£52 might seem trivial to you - but not to me.

Brexit is a right wing big brother control scenario brought on by the rich. Any true socialists would embrace the EU.

And what is the point of going backwards?

For a family of four it would be £208

£52 each that Brexiters now seem happy to give to the EU

To the EU......

I’ll leave that there

Some will, some won't.

It's no longer a right.

As I said, maybe Apelike has that sort of money to throw around.

What brexit is doing is restricting the FREEDOM of movement of the man (and woman and child) in street by imposing extra costs on them that weren't there before they decided to vote to leave.

When the likes of Barnier, Tusk and the the other main players of the EU are getting paid in the region of € 300,000 PA with lavish expenses for doing their job I doubt if they are socialist by nature. In anycase not everybody is a socialist as we can see from this thread. A fair amount of remainers on here have already stated how they have made money out of this and are quite well insulated from it.
