oh another 3.3 years of taxpayers money..... cool (NOT!)

It should be like Thailand

Your family feed you or it's fish heads for every meal.

I genuinely think it would work. I believe more defendants would plead guilty rather than risk the extra time.

A guilty plea ordinarily means no need for a jury trial which saves the taxpayer's money and frees up court time thus allowing more criminals to be prosecuted.

More than likely they will , there's plenty of cameras at asda and the row of shops.

Another example of how the people with money/name get preferential treatment.

This "exceptional hardship" thing needs to be stopped and no longer used.

We have a system of 12 points and then you lose your licence. That should be the end. The most points you can get for a single offence is 9, meaning you have at least 2 chances.

Not following to this limit is why there are over 10,000 drivers still on the roads with more than 12 point, with one driver having 62 points and still driving.

12 point should mean automatic ban and no exceptions.

In this guy's case his previous driving convictions were for speeding so this was his FIFTH conviction. Thst in itself should been a sign that without severe punishment he's just going to do it again.

Not so,

5-10 for Fail Stop or Fail Report and up to 11 for more serious stuff that ends up in the Crown Court

Just reading that Ronaldo has agreed a deal with Spanish authorities that will see him pay £16.9million and accept a two-year prison sentence for not paying £12.8million in tax . Under Spanish law, he will not spend any time in jail as sentences of two years and under can be served on probation. Same the world over money talks.

I think thats at least £10m light and really hit his wallet but, given how skint Spain is, wouldn't it be better to have the money than the cost and hassle of locking someone up like Ronaldo? He didn't hurt anyone.
