Kidorry   189 #1 Posted January 4, 2019 The time on my desktop pc is not showing the right time even though I have re-set it a couple times. I am sure I once read on here that it could be a sign of something more serious. Can anyone put me right on this . Cheers.
 Share this content via...
max   13 #2 Posted January 4, 2019 A quick Google, using the phrase "Desktop time problem" shows that it could be caused by several things. Have a go through the list.
 Share this content via...

swarfendor437 Â Â 14 #4 Posted January 4, 2019 Yes it is usually the CMOS battery - most are CR2302 and easy to replace (unless it's a notebook!)
 Share this content via...
Kidorry   189 #5 Posted January 5, 2019 Thank you for the replies and I will get a new battery and put it in.
 Share this content via...

More likely a CR2032.  First 2 numbers are dia. in mm' s, second 2 are thickness.
 Share this content via...
Kidorry   189 #7 Posted January 6, 2019 Do all the CR2032 have the same power output or is there a specific type for the desktops?
 Share this content via...

Kidorry   189 #10 Posted January 7, 2019 Managed to change the battery but I was a bit nervous because it was only held in by a plastic surround and if I broke that I think I would have been in trouble. Thank you everyone for your help.
 Share this content via...

Thank you everyone for your help. Glad you sorted it, but for future reference (and for anyone else) as part of the holder, there is a small flat metal piece at one side, push/squeeze this towards the out-side edge, and the battery should just kinda pop out... then put the new one in pushing that side down last to 'clip' it in... Kidorry   189 #12 Posted January 7, 2019 Yes I saw that but I did not know if it was a connector, so I left it alone.
 Share this content via...
