Hornby dublo 1950s train sets value?

Recommended Posts

Are Hornby Dublo 1950s train sets with that much?

I've had a look on eBay the prices range from 69 pounds for a basic set to 600 pounds for an everything set. Some of the sets have their original box which I understand adds more value. Has a child I had an Hornby 1950s train set but it's long gone no idea on what happened to it.

Not a problem, I replied just to try and help geared out.  My Father in law had a Hornby display at one time. Rod Stuart is into Train displays, though I suppose their cost will not put him off.

It's normally the loco that pushes the price high. As for buying the track, rolling stock and power adapter, these can be bought relatively cheaply. The layout itself is a personal thing where you build it yourself over time. I've been building mine for over three years now and it's still not finished!! All my stuff is standard original analogue DC but the modern version is now called DCC, which allows you to connect computer software to it for sound etc. Another point is that all the early stuff was made here in the UK but now Hornby is made in China. A lot of die hard rail fans prefer the British Made stuff but I don't see it. You can buy Lima products a lot cheaper and they are equally good in the detailing. Another brand is Bachman which are similar prices to Hornby.

If you just put OO scale in your eBay search engine, you will find a huge choice of all the different brands, and might just find a bargain!!

On New Years Eve at Doncaster Race Course is one of the largest

toy fairs in South Yorkshire starts at 10pm to 4pm selling all the

old boy's toy's you can mention from the 1950's etc go and look

compaire what is being sold with what you have condition wise

and price remember there is a buying and selling price usually dealers buy

at less than a third they sell items for and items fetching the highest price

need to be mint and boxed, ebay prices are inflated don't take notice of items

that are said to be rare ask the experts do your research first before selling.
