The fountain outside the midland station

@MORTHILL

As has been said earlier - many times - the steel was produced in SHEFFIELD, admittedly by a Swedish owned company. It went nowhere near China!

Thinking that steel of sculpture in front of station has to be from Sheffield is ridiculous and will show and display the shortminded and universal thinkers on this topic.

No it isn't.  For it not to come from Sheffield would be an embarrassment.

Having re-read what you posted, I'm even more confused. The steel was manufactured in Sheffield and fabricated in Bristol - China had no involvement, so you original post still doesn't make any sense. IF I am missing something, please explain in English.

Seen as Sheffield is graded as the best steel you can have and fact we produce it I feel pretty ****** off if it was China steel! We sold off the recipe and now buying it from them it's false economy! Plus we call our self's the steel city it be pretty pointless buying it in from else were!!

China steel industry is doing better than Sheffield today. Even trump sees that. Sheffield used to be good steel producer but today it has gotten little behind there.

I wish they'd introduce a 'thanks' button on here - it would save a lot of typing!

Well said, truman.

Seen a lovely beautiful play about Sheffield steel history this week, it's grinders and buffer girls. Yes Sheffield has a romantic history. Today that time has gone, over.

Why get so upset where steel comes from?

I feel sorry for people who hold to the past and think their place is only good place. Good steel is also made elsewhere today.

Nothing wrong in liking Sheffield but this world and universe are much bigger than this little steel town.

Even if the steel came from the moon it would be fine, Sheffield would be nothing in darkness without a beautiful full moon.

Should Amsterdam import all their tulips from China and be happy to do so as well?

Just walked by station. It's a beautiful unique fountain regardless where it's made. Now, today it's at Sheffield station and that's what makes it great even if steel came from Russia.

If anything Sheffield should become more connective with the world it is in instead of holding on to old sentimental ideas that Sheffield is the greatest.

What does Trump know about Sheffield steel ? I'm rather curious.

I used to quite like it (especially when all the lighs are working) but now think it screens off one of the few nice traditional buildings in the area. You could drive past our station without realising it was there.
