Sheffield did have some of those for a while.

I know the mercure hotel had some, but they just get hit too often to be worth installing.

The ones i remember where on Anns road next to Heeley City farm. They were to stop rat runners but let the bus through, this was before the road was made into a dead end.

Travel South Yorkshire are reporting that the 52 and 52a are diverting "via Attercliffe Road, Attercliffe Common, Broughton Lane and Greenland Road before resuming normal route on Handsworth Road".  Why is only one of the services diverting onto Britannia Road, then onto Main Road to access the bus stop at Weldricks Pharmacy/Wilco?

How do the busses get from Greenland Road to Handsworth Road? Do they teleport up the hill, which is Main Road, to connect with the start of Handsworth Road (at the bridge)?

Of more importance, why is it taking so long to sort the problem at the junction of Woodbourn Road and Staniforth Road?  It is absolute incompetence !!!

The closure is having a bad impact on all traffic in the area. Thousands of people inconvenienced day after day because some idiot thinks its ok to run a red lights.

Why does that require the road to be closed?

Because the council need time to alter the light sequence, it isn’t something that can just be done.

basically lets bury our heads in the sand and do nothing then to see if we can improve the problem before we have all our trams taken out

An obvious solution would be to introduce (at enormous expense) level crossing gates

Would you like to explain how the road being closed pending the traffic light sequence being changed is Supertram burying their hands in the sand?

Changing traffic sequences does not require one side of the road to be closed.  If that was the case then why is only the out of town route closed but the into town route open?

There wouldn't have been a problem if the road users concerned had been in any way competent.  From observation in S3 and S1 the vast majority of motorists are colour blind (or at the very least misinformed in that red means the next three or four vehicles can proceed regardless)

It’s closed, until the traffic light sequence can be changed, because that’s the direction that vehicles were coming from in both recent tram incidents and, when reviewing previous safety data & recommendations, in various incidents over the years.

In order to reduce the possibility of further incidents at this junction the road has been closed while modifications can be made so that both the filter lane and straight on show red lights when a tram is going through the junction.

One of the problems at this junction is that motorists misread the right turn ‘filter’ lane as a green light for straight on too.*

*This doesn’t make said road users anymore competent.

Well at least it gives the red light jumpers an excuse

The road has now reopened. Does anyone know if any changes have been made?

We await with bated breath the next idiot to jump the red light aiming at an innocent unsuspecting tram train
