Janus   28 #1 Posted November 30, 2018 A mob of teenagers attacked the police in a town centre. I know that fining parents when their children don`t attend school may be contentious issue, but surely attacking police officers is far worse. Should the parents also be find as well as taking the youths to court? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-46398021
 Share this content via...

tlangdon12   13 #4 Posted November 30, 2018 If the children are under 16, then yes, the parents should be fined.  The police do not always behave as they should, but when attacked by a large number of youths, in order to restore order I think they should be able to put up a robust defence. Problems occur if the "red mist" comes down and they continue to lay into people long after they have given up attacking and are cowering on the ground.  The police should have the tools these days, e.g. SmartWater, to mark the participants in such a way that they can round them up in the following days without having to drag large numbers of people off to the cells, which wouldn't be able to cope anyway.
