A new influx of boat people from france.

Watched the BBC evening news report last night where they interviewed an Iranian guy, currently living in Liverpool for a number of months, has claimed asylum & awaiting a decision.

He explained to the reporter that he paid €3000 to people traffickers in France, was placed in a boat with others. The people traffickers were in a second boat & shepherded them part way across The Channel.  Apparently this individual actually claimed asylum in France but his application was refused.  He explained that his claim was made on political grounds & the French refuse a high proportion of these, hence him paying traffickers to get to the UK & why he reckons his fellow Iranians are doing the same.

Two points.

1. I thought that once you had an asylum claim refused in another EU country, you were in the system & all other claims in any other EU country were refused?  If this is the case, why would he be allowed to make a claim in the UK?

2. Why having refused his asylum claim did the French not deal with him in the first instance & deport him?

One question I would have liked the BBC reporter to have asked is how did a supposedly penniless migrant get his hands on €3000?

who said hes penniless? if hes claiming asylum on political grounds that doesnt mean he doesnt have money?, maybe he spent his last 3000 on this trip? maybe now hes penniless?

Its not hes from the poorer and war torn Iraq or Afganistan

Police close M6 motorway tonight after 27 of them found in back of a wagon

This needs stopping ,and stopping now. We need to deploy the Army to help border forces check EVERY wagon coming off EVERY ferry ,and have troops deployed along our coast to stop them  sneaking in by rubber dingy.

The migrant claimed he was having made his way from Iran into Turkey, over the water into Greece then across the rest of Europe into France.

So, as a result you want to mobilise an army - way short on numbers, so they can poke about the back of lorry with fixed bayonettes like corporal Jones, ignoring, of course, your dodgy knocked fags - we could talk about how much that costs the country if you like. The navy is struggling even more for ships and personnel.

You've also ignored the fact alot of ports (All?some?) already have machines in place that x-ray lorries. What happened on the M6 isn't great but its hardly an every day occurrence.

No, your post couldn't have been funnier if you posted a video of yourself dressed as clown, on a clown tricycle and then the wheels fall off. Now open a window, the hypocrisy is overpowering.

You really do not think things through.

What sort of costs and delays would be caused by your master plan?Targeted checks are carried out by personnel with X Rays and CO2 detection.

No doubt given the money to back up the government rhetoric, more checks could be carried out,but certainly not 100% of all traffic.

Have you been to a ferry or container terminal.

As the article says, this wagon was stopped, but why it wasn’t escorted off the motorway for processing,I have no idea.

A couple of convictions for people trafficking.  A drop in the ocean, (no pun intended), at least it's a start.  Maybe the convictions should get a more prominent airing on the main news along with the stories of people trying to arrive by boat.  The sentences might make them think we're not such a soft touch when you're caught.

I don't see any mention of the convicted being deported back to their home countries though at the end of their sentences?
