A new influx of boat people from france.

Recommended Posts

Have you ever actually been to Europe?

I'm not guessing, there are open borders between France, Spain, Germany and Portugal.  The border signs are there, but that's all.  No customs, no men in uniforms.  You simply drive straight through, if you didn't see the sign you wouldn't have even known you'd changed countries.

France obviously has border controls at international points of entry, airports for example, but not at land borders.

Think you're getting a bit confused about open borders & 'open borders'.

Only those citizens of the 26 countries signed up to the Schengen Agreement, truly have the right of free passage into France, Belgium, Holland, etc.  The vast majority of the world still require a visa.

Of course those sneaking in won't have any documents at all,  so it's once again down to the French, Belgium & Dutch to sort this sort of thing out & deal with their illegal immigrant problem for those who don't want to or have no intention of claiming asylum in France, Belgium or Holland or any of the other numerous  mainland European countries they pass through, before they get to the Northern French, Belgium or Holland  Channel port & potentially become the Uk's problem.

Why would the french, Belgians etc give a toss on who goes through their country and gets to ours? We wouldn’t if the boot was on the other foot. Besides, don’t they have a bigger migrant/asylum seeker problem than us anyway? They’ll be glad to see the back of a few.
