The BBC said this morning that it was pretty much Labour's election spending plan put into action, aside from the free broadband and stuff.

On the face of it, it just looks like a thank you  to those who chose the Tories.  I just hope all this spending can be afforded.

Sunak’s spend, spend, spend budget is tough for Labour to attack

I think that is substantially true, but unfortunately with our brand of combative political debate there will be no meeting of minds or cross party support on any issue.

I wish there could be some agreed common policy on basic issues such as the NHS so that we could do away much useless debate.

Some continuity on policies irrespective of who is in power would save billions and be of benefit to our population.

Got to say I think the Government is pulling out all the stops in the fight against this virus.

So glad we have Bojo at the helm and not Theresa the appeaser.

Disagree. Boris seems to be reactive rather than proactive, doing the right thing, but too late. He's found the magic money tree so that's not a problem, but still no help for 5 million self employed.

And the elephant in the room is the lack of testing, testing, testing. We really have no idea how big a problem we're dealing with, its rate of progress etc.  For front line staff testing has been essential from day one, as has their need for proper protective clothing etc. and equipment to do their job, which they are sadly lacking.

This has been ongoing since January, enough time to be better prepared surely?

And with inaccurate data, when the tsunami hits are we going to be able to weather it?

Yes but a week later the situation and information has changed so its a case of constantly having to update actions. At the moment we can buy stuff freely but that may need to stop and rationing introduced. We are basically in unknown territory so advice and action may need to change as new data comes in.

but i think we could see from what was happening in Italy a few weeks ago to know that the option of letting it run its course was not the right way to deal with it, we knew that weeks ago

Yes, Britain was going against all the other countries' data and experience. The only reason I can think of is because Boris knew we weren't prepared and he was trying to delay acting for fear of being found out.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; with Boris's ability to be economical with the truth, it's not what he says, so much as what he doesn't say that matters. IMO there's a lot of things that don't add up.

They’ve discovered something called socialism, they’ll soon be calling each other Comrade and singing "The Internationale".
