Annie Bynnol   596 #49 Posted November 17, 2018 In that case, does anyone remember having classmates with bad behaviour? I cant recall one incidence of this. School was in working class area.  The bullies I mentioned before- does that count? Add to that: The children who were caned, suspended, excluded or transferred? The children who were not encouraged/barred from doing their exams at 16? . In our locality were two 'institutions' for Merseyside boys- kept 60 miles from their parents. An example of the "It's the best thing to do" mentality which seems to have created a safe haven for abusers.  Those lucky enough to have benefited from the system seem to have forgotten, ignored or never questioned what happened.  The assumption that working class day schools were somehow more guilty of generating bad behaviour is a measure of the 'selective blindness' society had.
