Gps to prescribe cannabis-specialist urges mainland uk to follow.

I understand a growing number of patients/illnesses are being helped by cannabis based medication. Could this be a safer and more effective alternative to current medication?

 

Politicians in Jersey have voted in favour all GPs to be allowed to prescribe medical cannabis, without authority from a specialist.

 

Currently in the UK only specialists can prescribe similar treatments. Consultant neurologist Prof Mike Barnes said the mainland should follow the changes, as cannabis expertise was "rare" among medical professionals.

 

In the UK only specialist doctors are allowed to issue similar treatments.
