I suspected most would be hidden. I want to photograph some from the street which inevitably will lead to confrontation and understandable worry.

 

I especially like custom made modernist /art decor type mansions. But thankyou everyone, all locations and architectural styles I find interesting.

 

I'm not familar with most of Sheffield, but so far it appears to me it's midurbs and suburbs are far superior and interesting than almost everything in its central zone?

I walk around Broomhall and Nether Edge taking photos of the large houses that still stand, Collegiate Crescent has some remarkable houses and strangely enough there's no trees on the side of the road, they are all in gardens.

That's because Hitler did a job on the city centre and nowadays with the demolition of the likes of the old Jessop Hospital building appears Sheffield University are carrying on the work.

A colleague's aunt used to leave her house by the back door and down the ginnel rather than using her front door, because someone down the bingo had told her that Google Street View was 'live' and burglars could look at someone's house on the interweb and wait for them to go out before robbing their house!

They are actually all over the place, although most are now flats

 

For instance Hillsborough way there's Burrowlee House just off the park, theres the one on the left as you head down Dykes Hall Road, and Loxley House on Ben Lane. The old asylum at Middlewood is stunning too.

 

There's also the impressive Queens Tower up Park Grange Road in Norfolk Park
