A very beautiful and capable young woman, with a husband and 3 lovely children. She's fitted into her royal role very well and is more down to earth than your usual royal, thanks to being a 'commoner.' Let's hope she and her own family keep William grounded too. Thanks to Kate and Diana's influence, there's some hope for William, who has been brought up differently to Charles and the rest, and hopefully has a strong sense of duty rather than entitlement. It took decades to get a referendum regarding out country's membership of the EU when there was a huge demand for one. If you want a referendum about the monarchy then I suggest you form your own political party like what UKIP did and put in decades of hard work to achieve your goal. BTW Prince Andrew is an innocent man. Your hilarious,
 Share this content via...

I also think William has made a good choice marrying Kate. She was a commoner before they married, but a classy one. Also it can’t be good when members of the Royal Family marry relatives, to many genetic problems.
 Share this content via...

Mmmm, not sure they (the people) decided this, more like the nobs and landed gentry with most to lose. As usual one lot of wealthy self interest was replaced by another lot of wealthy self interest who had attained more power. It was over another 200 years before ordinary men got a say in anything, with a democratic vote, (and women even longer.) Oliver Cromwell did some good for the common man, but got a bad press from the nobs who despised him for obvious reasons, villified him, and told the people what they wanted. Cromwell was the Jeremy Corbyn of his day.
 Share this content via...

Are they? I'm not sure about that. All through history the nobs have been in charge. The labour party is less than a hundred years old and has been out of power most of the time, which means even when the working man has someone fighting his corner he is so subservient he doesn't trust them and votes for what he knows instead. The Tories/ nobs are brilliant at exploiting that. They should be, they've had centuries of practise.
 Share this content via...

trastrick 866 #804 Posted January 11, 2022 (edited) For the entire history of mankind the strong have dominated the weak. Rise up and revolt against them with superior numbers, and you'll be incited and led by the next generation of the ever opportunistic power hungry class. Those symbols of power, uniforms, palaces and mansions, with the accompanying orbs, septres and chains of office, medals and awards, will always be occupied, just by different tenants. The fledgling democracies that do exist, allow at least a limited choice of overseer. Monarch, Generalissimo, Religious Leader, Capitalist, Statist Bureaucrat, or some unholy combination of same. Of all the above, these days, the statist bureaucrat has , by far, the easiest route to real power. Protect your precious vote, at all costs!
