Sad

Sad how?

These people deserve not one iota of our respect. They live a pampered, incredibly privileged life, sponging off the rest of the population. I heard the Queens speech at Christmas, telling me how hard Prince Philip worked, and we owe him more than we could ever know. What a crock.

I was forced to respect them at school, having them forced down my throat in stupidities such as standing for the national anthem in the cinema and last but not least being told how hard they worked by visiting places that I could only dream of.

I’m not falling for William and Kate and their kids jumping the queue, I reckon that a few years of Charlie pretending to be a king might just speed up the dissolution of the monarchy, bring it on.

Socialist blinkered alternative utopia nonsense.

Offer up an alternative view and stand back for the usual dribble on SF.

God save the Queen.

Yes I remember that now, I reckon that there will be a ‘warts and all’ TV documentary on him, perhaps not in the U.K. but we’ll be able to access it on some obscure Sky channel.

I’m no socialist, I don’t even vote anymore, too many folk like you who support the Tory party, and I still cringe at the very thought of Corbyn, try to come up with something original old chap.

Viva the Republic (if only)

I am somewhat of a reluctant monarchist, because the alternative would be a republic and we would get someone like a  Blair or a Boris being the supreme ruler of this country. It doesn't bear thinking about.....  The Queen came to the throne as a woman in her 20's and saw it as her duty. She has been a constant 'midst  a sea of changes for almost 70 years, she has my respect and affection, and will be a hard act to follow.  In a republic the succesful president would fight his or her way to the top though naked ambition and back room deals and promises.  Money, titles, positions and all other grubby stuff would come into play. No thanks.

In a few years, should we get Charles the 3rd or William the 5th? Personally, I would like to see Chas step aside and devote himself to his garden, and let the next generation take up the challenges.

But hey, that's just my opinion. There are others...................

A Republic would necessitate a democratically voted in President serving a prescribed term, other than a monarch serving 70 years +.
