i'd like a flu jab, i'm asthmatic - i honestly thought i was a goner the last time i had flu. not again thanks.

 

But i can't get an appointment at my GP's....

 

(The Crookes practise - they're completely useless)

weird isn't it, i remember struggling for breath, and i didn't mind...

In fact it would have been a pleasure to die, I was that bad.. funny isn't it.

I am surprised at you needing an appointment.Don't chemists do it over there? You can walk in almost any pharmacy over here and get it done.

Nurses do it at a special clinic at our surgery.

Padders,

 I know exactly how you feel. I'm recovering from a nasty cold. I'm asthmatic,  and the virus gets to my upper respiratory tract and inflammation makes breathing difficult.

Soon as I feel the symptoms of a cold ,I wash my nose out with a solution of warm water

and bicarbonate of soda.It seems to stop the symptoms from progressing to my chest.

I've had my flu jab .

I'd advise that any person over the age of 60  ask their GP  for the Pneumonia ( Lasts the rests of your life) Jab.

At the moment  I'm wheezing like an old horse but I'm not having to reach for the Ventolin every two hours.

I'd go to the GP and demand you get your vaccination.

Flu has started early this year - several colleagues have had it before the 'flu jab was available at work.

I have had Pneumonia twice since my flu and Pneumonia jab but I was told it stops you getting the full blown illness. I have not had flu but the Pneumonia was no joke.

I was told by my Consultant friend that the vacs don't guarantee that you won't get the illness.What they guarantee is that the symptoms will be attenuated ,and the killer complications will not get you.

The Crookes Practice has had a couple of Saturday morning flu jab clinics recently. I went to one and had to wait less than 15 mins to get my jab. I am also asthmatic and get a text reminder and a jab every year.

Called at Dykes Hall for the advertised 8-12 Saturday morning session.

Arrived at 11.50 only to be told by the receptionist that the nurse had said no more that morning.There were perhaps 6 people waiting.I was not happy.

Whilst I was arguing my case one fella was in and out within 2 minutes.

Went to Boots at Hillsborough  last Monday after making online appointment .Still free on age grounds and nurse was lovely.
