How do you see Sheffield in 5 years?

Recommended Posts

5000 trees were cut down to compensate for 5000 potholes being filled unfortunately.

Go live in the forest countryside.

Sheffield still has more trees flowers and green than any other city I have ever lived.

There is lots of development going on in sheffield planned by intelligent people.

In five years sheffield is going to be the most developed city around.

Agreed, there’s lots of really great developments completed, planned and in progress

Wow, your response to the behaviour of scc and amey is to tell people to go and live in a forest. Clever.

Fargate will be full of empty shops because they have all moved down The Moor.

There are but don't expect many on here to embrace that - they don't like change you see

In 5 years time there will still be folk posting on here moaning about everything they can shake a stick at.

These empty shops will become art gallery and big names moving to moor will become home to lots of local small traders. If MS goes it could become sheffields new real market.

Ripping sheffield in half with moor on one side and fargate on the other half is like wearing a jacket with a vertical seam in the middle one half red other half green. Interesting, I have never seen anything like that before anywhere.

Its an odd layout, that's for sure.

Back in the 70s there were three distinct levels of shopping. The bargain end near the old Markets, the mid range on Fargate and then all the best shops on The Moor.

Whatever is happening now im following it with interest.

Our theatres and library are too far away from and dont connect with the moor and moor dont connect well with tram either.

Whatever direction its going now fargate is a very good location that has certain advantages over moor. And vice versa moor has little advantage like better parking nearby.

It almost feels like a chess game between the two and the moor has a better position on the board.

But im certain fargate will have that hidden move that the moor cant make and win the game in the far future.

Pauldens, Roberts and Atkinsons on the Moor were all pretty mid range. Best shops were Coles and Walsh's.

The 80s - the golden age of toy stores in Sheffield! Hamleys on The Moor, Redgates at the top, Beatties and a seperate toy department for Coles!

What a time to be alive!

Retail is dying, lots more restuarants, bars, galleries, museums, theatres and open space needed.
