It will be soon pal. I'm nearing completion of my software changes and just need to give everything a good rattle test to make sure that all is well.....as far as software ever can be.

 

I'll set 2 new threads up - hopefully before Christmas - and we'll have a mini season for the enjoyment of all.

Hi Alan.

 

You can use any as I maintain a set of aliases for each team however as you'll discover later in this saga, it is always best to copy and paste from the template(s) provided. The templates always use the 'system' team names. I'll give a detailed explanation of the guidelines and gotchas  when I set the new threads up.

Very many thanks to those of you who have submitted your predictions for testing. The content and variety have enabled me to exercise some code paths that don’t crop up every week - ie adding a new competitor ‘on the fly’ and a prediction with a two-digit score. Something cropped up that caused a problem. A competitor submitted predictions that had been copied from another competitors submission and although the predictions appeared to be OK on screen, some non-printable characters were included in the leading banner (and also within the predictions) resulting in the submission not being processed.  As there are loads of PC/Mac browsers out there along with several flavours of smartphones, the chance of ‘contamination’ by using data from another system is increased. I haven’t had any issues with those of you who copy and paste from the supplied templates so that seems the safest method to adopt.

 

The prediction extraction process for the new SF is nearing completion. I’d like to continue testing for another week and it would help if you good folks would submit predictions for upcoming matches. This will give me 2 weeks worth of data which will be sufficient to complete the rest of my testing, and also give some visibility to past competitors or any newbies who would like to take part. If all goes well, I’ll start the Predictions League proper for the rest of the season from 15th December. Just in time for Santa to have a go…………
