Thanks for your predictions folks.

 

This should be enough to test the software changes that I haven't made yet as it's been a pretty busy week. I'll report any progress on this thread and if all is well, start new threads for this season's predictions and results. It won't be quite the same as for a full season but it might tempt more folks to have a go next season

Update

 

I have made reasonable progress this week but encountered a problem that needed a solution. Basically, the underlying structure of the new webpages is completely different from the previous version. In the new version, any quotes from other posts are included in the pool of text that also contains the prediction. It is easy to spot the start of the quote, but impossible to identify where the quote ends and the predictions begin. I have contacted the techies at SF but have not had a response, therefore I have had to invent a solution. To also allow for the situation where a quote is included after the predictions, it will be necessary to include ‘banners’ that identify the start and end of the predictions. “Predictions:” and  “Predictions end:” seem reasonable! I hope I have explained that clearly but to clarify, here are a couple of examples using matches to be played Saturday 1st December (no matches in League 1/2):

Sheffield Utd n:n Leeds Utd

Blackburn Rovers n:n Sheffield Wed

Norwich City n:n Rotherham Utd

Predictions end:

I appreciate that it's a bit of a faff, but not too much to ask if you use copy/paste.
