Albert smith   11 #1 Posted September 26, 2018 Look North has just shown the route of next years Cycling World championships to be held in Yorkshire . An event that has competitors and spectators visit from the four corners the World . Just has as happened in this years Tour of Britain Sheffield is not involved it seems . Leeds, Doncaster ,Harrogate and towns in-between are participating in what is one of the biggest sporting events on the Planet . It seems as though our Council can get involved with lost causes at the drop of a hat but when it comes to putting us on the World map in positive way they decide that they just can not be bothered. Old news really..the host cities were announced over a year ago, even if the routes were publicised only now The costs and logistics of being involved in the World Championships are significant which is bound to be a factor. Its also very divisive, as I'm sure you'd see if Sheffield did bid to be involved. By the way, nowhere in Yorkshire was involved in the Tour of Britain, and hasn't been since the Tour de Yorkshire started. The latter is an ASO ( who run the Tour de France) event and its one of their conditions that no other world tour/pro continental event can run there.
