Areas to avoid - are they really as bad as people say?

Recommended Posts

Page Hall, Fir Vale, Pitsmoor, Burngreave, Grimesthorpe, Attercliffe, Wincobank, Tinsley.

Although there are some decent places dotted around those areas, except Page Hall - that place wants bulldozing.

Top areas in Sheffield, Dore/Totley has rail links and reliable bus route into town, Bradway, Fullwood, Crosspool, Ranmoor, Whirlow, Greystones and Bents Green. Areas to avoid Pitsmoor, Firth Park, Manor Top, Gleadless Valley, Burngreave, Fir Vale, High Green, Wincobank.

City living Kelham Island is decent and Riverside.

All the best.

A long time spent living in Sheffield suggests to me that the answer given was pretty much accurate.

Is that a long time living in Sheffield and being familiar with those areas or a long time living in Sheffield and listening to other people's opinions of those areas?

Being familiar with nearly all the city, and taking account of the opinions of others - why do you feel the need to ask?

Because I know many people in Sheffield who have very strong opinions about certain areas in the city and will freely admit to never having been to any of them.

I have probably been on every street in the city at some point over the years. I also have a minor work-related interest in property so like to keep up with whats what on that subject.

living in a couple of these area's and bred and born in Sheffield a good many years ago suggests to me the thread is wrong

for example the new private houses thats been and are being built at the manor top are selling like hot cakes, do you think people are going to buy these houses if it was a bad area, about 8-900 houses, come on get up to date.
