Seasons predictions 18/19

Recommended Posts

Yes, Paul Walker was a BLADE, but also a very professional soccer commentator.

When he reported on Wednesday which he did often, there was never a hint of his SUFC feelings

No joking, Paul Walker is the best commentator I've ever heard.

Yes, he gave the impression he supported whichever team he was commentating on.

There's no-one to touch him.

Why MOTD don't employ him, I'll never know.

Wallowing in self pity? ... err no.

There's no pity involved.

On another note, I've just listened to a past programme of Football Heaven on Radio Sheffield and someone mentioned the dislike of L***s by the good people of Sheffield.

The new presenter who's come up from Radio Leicester (welcome to him by the way) acknowledged the 'custom' and said 'Sheffield? It's the whole country that hates L***s isn't it?

I assume the lad supports Leicester, and replaces Jonny Buchan.

Whilst I'm wallowing in self pity, the lengths Radio Sheffield and Andy Giddings will go to to avoid employing a presenter with Sheffield Wednesday connections is plain to see. ;) .................. It must be a rule at RS to never employ anyone remotely attached to S6. :hihi:

Paul Walker was a Blade and left for Channel 5 Football (and now Quest).

Halifax Town supporter Gidds became Sports Editor.

Paul Walker was replaced by a L***s fan Jonny Buchan who lasted a couple of seasons before becoming Sports Editor at Radio L***s.

Mike McArthy, the geezer from Leicester has replaced Buchan.

Rotherham fan Rob Staton's now on his way to Humberside and Gidds will be looking for his replacement.

I'm intrigued as to where he'll look.

It'll probably be Baahnsley! ;)

I'm only teasing, really. As long as they're good at the job, I'm not bothered if they come from Timbuctoo.

I'm off to wallow.

Funny Rob Staton always came across as’ a Wednesday fan. When the new presenter on RS made the Leeds comment I think he was just playing to the gallery so to speak. He’s obviously been briefed by Giddings etc as to the cultural nuances of South York’s football as well as *» character «* callers to RS.

Incidentally Mick you write in the same manner / style that you talk on RS

Precisely, and Hotmail's response is a classic case of that. Ask him way, and he wouldn't be able to articulate a sensible argument.

Like I said, most Leeds fans would have no strong views on the Sheffield clubs at all, and generally enjoy their trips to Bramhall Lane and Hillsborough. Ive always had a soft spot for the Blades especially; a good community club with a decent set of fans.

To be honest Ben I lived in Manchester for three years 1983-86 and drank and socialiséd with both United and City fans and not once did I ever hear a rivalry with Leeds mentioned. The antipathy was always towards Liverpool, and Everton to an extent, but really against «* Scousers*». I’ll grant you that Man Utd fans sing about Leeds now but that’s down to Leeds fans obsession and desperate need for rivalry with Man Utd. It’s similar to Barnsley fans imagining they have a rivalry with the Sheffield clubs

Good lad. I might add that you’re always fair and balanced and not blinded by bigotry. Unlike me at times

Before this gets out of hand, I'm not Mick the Rawmarsh Owl.

I don't think he's 63 years old. Maybe he is??

I've heard the new RS sports reporter is from Bahhhnsley.

He might be Wednesday connected, but I doubt it.

Nope, and I'm not 2-1 Ken either. ;)

I predicted a new presenter on the 6th as 'probably being from Baaahnsley'

Hearing whispers that the new presenter is indeed from Baaahhnnsley.

Like I said, I'm on fire this season!

Nice to see a bit of optimism creeping in there HM.

Getting back on topic, my Blade mate, who's fair, well balanced and honest told me that against Villa, the Blades were passing the ball that quickly to each other, that at times it was difficult to keep your eye on it.

He said it was definitely the best football he's ever seen from a United side.

On that basis, I predict very good things for the Blades.

Great football married up to great attitude and hard work can only result in one thing, and that's success of a sort.

How good that success will be is open to question, but I suspect that United could be 'the team to beat' and with Wilder saying there's still money in the pot, things are looking ominous for the rest of us.

I don't expect a slump from them this time, so other contenders will have to be right up for it, or suffer the consequences.

Will our super dooper brand of football carry on when the winter kicks in and pitches get heavier ?

By the way. As in the film, Life Of Brian, when Brian keeps denying he’s the Messiah. I think you are «* Mick the Romish Owl*»

A lot of the dislike stems from Yorkshire TV being based in L***s and their bias reporting, such as a murder or similar happening in Huddersfield being mentioned 'in passing' and Mrs Garsides 48th birthday in L***s being paraded for all to see for 10 minutes.

Wednesday won the Cup in 1991. Immediately following the game ITV went for a commercial break and when they came back, The whole of the country saw the Wednesday players lift the trophy except viewers in the 'Yorkshire' TV area, who were shown an episode of 'War Of The Monster Trucks' instead.

L***s bias? or 'Yorkshire' TV's ignorance?

Either way, it was unforgivable and unforgettably rank service from the region's 'top' news service and programme provider.

L***s were on the telly for long periods if they won a corner.

If people like me can clearly remember it 20 odd years later, then it shows how much it rankles with Wednesday fans.

A proper Wednesday man shouldn't have signed for them up the M1, but they did, and you can't unring a bell.

Not being about to even type the name of a city seems a tad obsessive to me. I'd advise you to smile, and get on with your life. You'll feel better.
