And yes they are huge, apparently not far off the size of a golden eagle

 

Well …. not really. The maximum recorded wingspan of a buzzard is 4 foot 8 inches. That of a Golden Eagle is 7 foot 8 inches. Every day's a school day :)

See them birley Carr area all the time,have to be careful because I have two little dogs and understand they would take them

 

Highly unlikely as long as the dogs stay near you. I don't know how little they are (chihuahua's are more likely than say a border terrier) but a dog being taken by a buzzard is not something that would go unreported.

Yes they are chihuahuas,and I suppose the buzzards will pick up rabbits which are larger,I mean when they're on the garden on their own and as we back on to fields it's more open

Buzzards are lazy carrion eaters. They'll not take a dog if there's something dead and unmoving to go for :D

Idle damn things, as said above. But they will munch on young Pheasants in release pens given half a chance. Nets over the top hopefully keep them at bay.

 

Quite a few Buzzies around S35.
