The Bridge Inn, Loxley

Anyone with any information..photos etc...of an inn/beerhouse at Rowell Lane, Loxley?? Guessing closed in 1930`s/1940`s....

Is this the house (that looks like a smallholding) to the right of Rowell Lane Bridge -  in the bottom of the valley going towards Loxley from Stannington? (near the give-way). It has an old clapperboard bridge just outside it with a footpath going over it.

Yes, lindylou53, that 'house/small holding' is the the former Rowell Bridge Inn.

 

If you open Hillsbro's link and google maps (satelite) and compare the image/view it confirms your 'suspicions'!!.

Never realised that although  i should have been able to work it out as it's so near the bridge!

Anyone know if there was also a pub at Hilltop near Stannington - on the road opposite Our Cow Molly's? Seem to remember someone telling me there was but can't see any evidence?
