gomgeg   10 #277 Posted October 26, 2018 Yes. One way forwards would be this, still on the four-weekly (blue/black/brown/black basis): BLUE: glass only. BROWN: metal and cans only. BLACK: everything else, for incineration at Bernard Road. We got our new brown bin the other week, the lid and hinge seem a lot more flimsy than the black bin of which we've still got the original one, I can't see it lasting long. Then it'll need recycling. Longcol   602 #278 Posted October 26, 2018 Ours didn't..it got dumped on the tip on Beighton Road in Woodhouse.. (I suppose it depends how long "long ago" was)  I'm pretty sure they were still dumping at the Shirecliffe tip when SF started - hence ex-users Timo's jokes about Central University Neepsend Tip Site. bazjea   10 #279 Posted October 27, 2018 I'm struggling with my bins at present. I have no transport to get to the tip. Black bin really overflowing and is due to be collected tomorrow, new brown bin full to the top and not due to be collected until next Tuesday, blue bin half full and not due to be collected for another 3 weeks. We are a family of 6 and I can't seem to keep the rubbish down.  Large bins are available for large families. Have alook at Veolia website,or contact them via phone number below   VEOLIA SHEFFIELD Lumley Street Sheffield S4 7ZJ  Tel: 0114 273 4567  The call centre is open Monday - Friday, 8am - 6pm. rudds1 Â Â 102 #281 Posted October 27, 2018 Contacted Veolia and asked them to take my brown bin back as I can share with my neighbour. They told me they would not take it back! Â Their response when I told them I did not want brown bin was council says everyone has to have one. Just take it back to their depot yourself
 Share this content via...

Daven   10 #283 Posted November 2, 2018 Our blue bin was emptied earlier this week - the first time since it changed to paper and cardboard. Well, when I say 'emptied' I mean it must have gone on the back of the waggon but was returned with half of it's contents still in
 Share this content via...
The Joker   10 #284 Posted November 2, 2018 Our blue bin was emptied earlier this week - the first time since it changed to paper and cardboard. Well, when I say 'emptied' I mean it must have gone on the back of the waggon but was returned with half of it's contents still in  did you stamp the contents down so you could fit more paper and cardboard in ?  I did  Probably not the best idea in hindsight
 Share this content via...
Daven   10 #285 Posted November 2, 2018 My legs aren't long enough for that but maybe the pieces of cardboard I'd ripped up weren't small enough. Live and learn I guess
 Share this content via...
vwkittie   10 #286 Posted November 2, 2018 Since the new system has been in place our recycling collections haven't been right at all. The leaflet we got with the brown bin and the Veolia website both give the same dates for the collections, but collections are happening at random unspecified times.  My brown bin has now been out over a week, still not emptied.  Contacted Veolia via their web form, didn't get any response.  Will have to call them I guess as I have no idea when I'm supposed to put them out
 Share this content via...
Bomarsmum   10 #287 Posted November 7, 2018 The Council have brought me a new brown bin So I can do better recycle-in I used to have two One black and one blue But now I have three And they’re all just for me. There’s a cycle for the recycle-in And pictures of what to put in each bin Week one is for my existing blue bin On the 1st November they’ll be collect-in Week 2 is for my existing black Where I put non-recyclables in a black sack Week 3 they’ll collect my new brown bin Filled with bottles, jars and cans and tins. Week 4 will be the same as week 2 So by now I should know what to do. I’d got to grips with this new regime So I would be au fait with my recycle-in But yesterday when I opened my door A letter from Veolia was on the floor "Unfortunately the new calendar you received Was delivered in error, would you believe The correct calendar for your property Is enclosed in this letter to you for free So please discard the previous calendar Which 'may' have been delivered to you in error". So now I know what I have to do The calendar will go in the bin that is blue And now the Council have made a ****-up Will my Council Tax be going up? If this is the case I’ll need a new bin To put my Council Tax bills in. I already pay for fire rescue and the police And my bins are collected with relative ease But what is really baffling me Is why the Local Authority Think they need to test my recycle-in By sending stuff to put in my blue bin. Janus   28 #288 Posted November 18, 2018 What containers do you guys use for paper & cardboard?  In Rotherham green bins ceased to be used for garden waste last month and are now to be used for paper & cardboard and collected each fortnight-crazy.  Brown bins for garden waste at £39 for the year collected just once per month
 Share this content via...
