I wondered if you could help me please?

 

I am looking for a singer/songwriter called Susan Fassbender, she sang with a woman called Kay Russel, their only major hit was Twighlight Cafe. Any information would be useful as I am interested to find out anything about her as this was a great record.

 

I heard she had given up music and had returned to Sheffield via Bradford.

 

Any information would be great.

Just wanted to ask... who are you?

I'm one of Susan Fassbender's daughters. She did give up music but didn't live in Sheffield. In fact, I'm not sure she ever did.

But i can't disclose anymore information.

I knew Susan when she was at school, before she was Fassbender. She lived in Bradford at that time.

This topic has been attracting attention on the Radio Two message boards with links to the You Tube performance

 

Wickipedia which can't always be trusted half a message added about Susan passing away and someone else says that she was 32 when she died (which would make it 1992)

 

I hope she is still around somewhere (especially as the song was so great)

 

And what about Kay Russell

I have not seen Kay since around 1983, so have no idea what she is doing. Her band used to play around Bradford and did some goog gigs. It would not surprise me if Sue died young though. She was a good keyboard player and it was really cool to see her playing harpsichord in a music shop on Saturday afternoon.

I believe she died a few years back. She was in a group called "Susan Fassbender" with another female musician - guitarist Kay Russell and they had a hit with "Twilight Cafe" - WEEK ENDING 7TH FEBRUARY 1981.

Great pop song.
