Age to drink alcohol should be 21 .

Recommended Posts

Im not trolling if your gonna talk daft going on about the age of 5 you will get a daft remark from me. Who drinks booze at 5. :loopy:

It's legal for children from the age of 5 to be given drink by their parents.

Probably unusual, but legal.

The age you mentioned, 18, is the age to purchase it yourself.

Children from 16 - 18 can be served alcohol with a meal if their parents order it for them in a restaurant.

Surely before you suggest a change you should really understand what the current situation is?

I made equally daft decisions at 21 as I did at 18 and dont think I went out on the lash a deal less at 21 than I was 16.

Ok right. If this country got a grip and made it ilegal to drink under 21 there would be a lot less drama on our streets on a night time. Infact ban it all together.

Because there are no under age drinkers now..? What makes you think 18 year olds wouldn'r drink if the age was raised to 21 ?

No the legal age to drink alcohol should be 16. But the alcohol on sale should be of a low percentage. This will get young people used to socialising with people from different generations, used to drinking socially, and will help with the transgression between youth and adult. In addition it will open up a world beyond the internet, Face-ache and Twit-ter.

Anyone that listens to the yankee doodle, bible bashing, two faced rhetoric coming from the other side of the pond wants their head loking at. Cos they do it in the USA doesn't mean it's right.

Do you think there is drama on the streets in america on a saturday night? Id suggest there might be less but its still there.

We binge drink in this country - big time, its what we do. Have done since the year dot. Ive heard tales of proper fights in chesterfield under the vic veranda back in the late 60s early 70s. You could, on all accounts, set your watch by them.

Young people drink far less now than ever before.

It was a rhetorical/sarcastic quote...there are loads and that wouldn't change with a change in the law..

Do you deny that people can drink at the age of five legally in the UK?

Are you unaware that many people do drink - perhaps watered wine not full strength - from a young age in the UK, especially if the parents are of French or Italian origins?

Because the Volstead Act in the USA did so much to to prevent alcohol related violence didn't it?

Raise the drinking age to 21 and the first thing that will happen is mad binge drinking and violence from 21 and a night out old adults....

The Government prevents people aged 16-18 from accessing work, training and education which they require them to do.

The Local Authority/Government provides transport for children aged 4-16 to access education when their journey is over a certain distance.

Children who are over 16 do not. If 16-18 year olds have the "get up and go" attitude to find good work, education, training or apprenticeships they should have the opportunity to have a restricted or full licence.

The Government rules are particularly hard for those in rural areas where there is no reasonable public transport.

No Government should not be allowed to prevent or discriminate against young people because of where they live.
