Haven't our standards been ok up to now ?

Nope! Our water standard and beach standards were awful until the EU pushed us.

It may have escaped your notice but up until the UK leaves we are still part of the EU so the standards are also ours.

You surpass yourself Peter, this is an amazing realisation of the fact that the UK can not only set its own standards, but also that the EU standards that have been adopted make a difference. Merry Christmas to you and your awakening to facts.

Astounding deduction skills.

Could we....possibly.....be starting to make Brexiters understand basic facts.

Tomorrow’s lesson: water is wet, and fire is hot.

Tell you what, there are posters on here and I'm not naming names, who will try to tell you that they are not because the saw something on facebook which told them different and we are all mugs for not believing them! 😳

LOL, just watched a few minutes of this...then got bored with the crap

yet more lies and gibberish from the brextremists, the EU is not falling apart because of us leaving, the EU will not fall apart cos of the problems of those other countries mentioned, the EU is NOT the cause of the problems of those other countries (their governments are).

then you look down the comments and its the usual crap about sovereignty and migration...one even says stop third world migration by leaving the EU Oo its only gonna get worse when we make deals with the actual countries involved lol and they want legal migration deals put in place.

usual nonsense spouted by idiots, NONE of it based in fact or reality

I have read the posts, now can you tell me how the EU could have pushed the UK when the UK is part of the EU.

You mean this?

https://eu-rope.ideasoneurope.eu/2018/06/17/our-beaches-are-clean-because-of-the-eu/

So, the EU passed laws, which we agreed to as part of the EU, which we were then obliged to implement locally (ie in the UK), which resulted in the cleanliness of our beaches increasing.

But you appear to have missed the point:  That being that someone said "our standards were okay up to now weren't they", apparently not realising that for 45 years our standards have been lead by the EU, they are EU standards.  That's why there's a fear that standards may fall after we leave the EU and are no longer held to, well, a higher standard.

So, this is Christmas,

And what have we learned?

Another year older,

And a treaty not discerned.

A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any (project) fear

And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For remain and the leave ones
One side is so wrong

And so happy Christmas
Let's give up the pretense

And hope the beleavers

Will finally see sense

A very merry Christmas
And hope to come true
I wish in 12 months

We'll still be part of the EU

Happy Christmas all.
