On a brighter note, Johnny Marr is still releasing stuff, and it still has that Smiths sound:

He’s fantastic live too, if you get the chance to see him.

Morissey, give it another 10 years and no one will remember him.

Angel1.

I can state with total authority that this is utter nonsense; the songs he wrote will still be remembered many years from now and long after he's dead.

To put it more poetically 'There is a Light that Never Goes Out' is a light that will never go out! ;)

But it will only be Morissey fans that remember them. Have to say I could not tell you the name of any of his or the Smiths songs and had to look them up.

The Smiths will remain famous even if you don't like them. Over 20 years after they split up david Cameron claimed to be a smiths fan (even though he couldn't name any of their songs) because he wanted to be "cool". Johnny Marr was offended, as Cameron was a supporter of animal torture and was trying to reverse the ban on legally hunting foxes.

The Smiths being famous, and remembering their songs are two differing things. Camerons Uni years coincided with the height of their their fame and people tend to remember the bands they grew up with at the time they were socialising more than others. Most people who like them I suspect are also around his age @ 45-55 and remember them as they were, and as said it will be those very fans that remember them.

'Panic'.Morrisey says something that upsets people and 'heaven knows he's miserable now'.'What difference does it make' what an ageing indie rocker thinks, there are worse things happen, a 'boy with a thorn in his side' and somebody might have a 'girlfriend in a coma'.Chill and just pretend that 'everyday is like sunday'.

Obvious references to Smiths songs, means nothing to me personally. I’m just baffled as to why newspapers think anyone gives a monkeys.

I suppose it’s interesting in as much that the Far Right has no one famous, a celebrity, writer, sportsperson etc who shares the Far Rights vision or values ( not that I’m aware of) and along comes lame brain Morrisey.

Obviously Far Right individuals are all over the Internet, we have them on Sheffield Forum, but they’re not particularly newsworthy. Just embarrassing
