Moving to Sheffield - Advice

Recommended Posts

There are two areas in the Sheffield section that would be better for your post, perhaps the mods would oblige.

Log in to Rightmove (or similar) with your budget, then go for an external look at what takes your fancy, have a drive/stroll around the area and take note of how folk keep their homes and gardens, any gangs of youths, quality of cars in drives etc.

Good hunting.

But don't do it after dark.

And stay on the roads!!!!

Move to Hillsborough then you can complain about Tramlines being held in Hillsborough Park!

Cue pages and pages of people arguing about whether specific parts of the city are nice or not.

Maybe some advice to the OP as to which areas of Sheffield you wouldn't wish to live in?

Most places in Sheffield have good and bad points depending on your point of view and your requirements.

However avoid PageHall.

Think we'd all agree on that one. I'd also avoid the estates like the plague.

- commutable distance from city centre

Dronfield is 8 miles away through bad congestion (at rush hour).

Woodseats and Heeley would presumably also qualify.

Hi,

Thanks everybody for your posts.

As someone has pointed out, I am moving to Sheffield for professional reasons - i.e. a new job in the city centre.

I am not moving alone though but with my wife and two children aged 6 and 10. Finding a nice area and house for them to grown up and a decent school are my main priorities at present.

We check websites such as Rightmove, Zoopla, etc daily however, think that nothing can compare to the residents' knowledge of the place hence this post.

Thanks again,

Which estates?

I'll not discriminate - all of them.
