Sheffield's New Lord Mayor - Magid Magid

Recommended Posts

I think the point is he has probably made a difference with a broader cross section of society than Sheffield Forum, particularly children and young people as a result of him being more accessible to them.

100,000 people, average age 57, are about to pick the next PM of this country - anyone who does anything that encourages young people to understand the importance of politics is alright in my book.

A poster has raised this idea on the Jared O'Mara thread & come up with the best description of Mr Majid I've read yet.

Cos we won't need him or anybody else on Brussels soon? Or maybe we will?

I always had the old fashioned idea that to be elected Lord Mayor you had to have done a lot of good for the city.

In his previous role that was pretty much his job description, on behalf of Sheffield. He did it well.

How many others can you name?

Hmmm...

Well I can probably name nearly all of the characters in the Muppet Show but...

... it doesn't mean I'd want them to be representing Sheffield.

Although thinking about it... :suspect:

Embarrassing antics I assume including:

  • Being himself.
  • Standing up for what he believes in.
  • Attempting engage young people and diverse communities in politics.
  • Raising the profile of Sheffield.

What a truly horrifying individual!
