Why no Tour de Yorkshire in Sheffield?

Recommended Posts

I'm fed up to the back teeth of cyclists and cycling events.Events like this cause totall chaos for thousands of people trying to get to and from work.On Sundays similar events are organised out Derbyshire without any police presence, more chaos. Then throughout summer we get packs of 20 or more inconsiderate cyclists completely hogging the road and not pulling in to let any body pass. What really annoys me is the fact that the majority of the inconsiderate cyclists are also motorists, they know what they are doing, they really enjoy causing the problems.

Perhaps we should ban every thing that upsets the lard arssses sat in their tin boxes Trying to get to where ever they are going before they have even set of.

We could start with football matches where we get no go areas ,barriers across the roads stopping residents leaving or returning home ,music festivals that infringe on non music lovers ears , parades ,royal weddings ,public protests, and stop go men we should just run email all down for daring inconvenience us even for just one minute of one day in one year.

It seems as though almost every Town and village in our surrounding area is getting a stage of the Tour de Yorkshire either passing through or finishing or actually starting there ,Barnsley ,Doncaster , Leeds and so on are included .

And then we get to our own City ,Now't in sight it seems once again .

Why not us!!!!!!! ...

A "hostile environment" perhaps? Nah! Us Sheffield folk are so warm, welcoming and inclusive:

I live on the route, its no fun. Cant park outside my own house. Road closed most of the day.

Or perhaps they could ban motorists between 3 and 6pm so I can cycle home without getting choked on exhaust fumes with people who insist of causing traffic mayhem day in day out.

Oh and yes I do drive

Worth a comment ....... the wonderful City Council in its wisdom makes yet another blunder regarding the image, status and standing of the City.

They should have medals pinned on them. Something resembling a broken wheel, a fallen tree or a gaping pot hole.

Not quite fit or capable to empty the bins or repair the roads or leave the trees alone there's no chance they can see the world wide potential of having the TdY and hence Sheffield advertised to the world.

Even worse now because the TdY is fast becoming a classic, displacing top European races and attracting the world's best athletes and all the world wide television coverage that comes with it.

But when you spend your life with your cranium stuffed deep into your rhectum and unable to see the stars let alone the horizon beyond Ecclesall Road there's no chance of grasping the opportunities a world class cycling event on your door step brings.

Judging by the state of of the snooker that seems to be here because those who run it want to be here and haven't sold out to China it seems best to do without the magnificent management skills of our local councillors. If it wasn't for the telly would you know it was on? Yet we see a gold chain and robes on the front seat enjoying the freebie.

Then again it was the same local councillors who sold our City to the Chinese developers who so far have managed to throw up a a disgustingly ugly lump of concrete as if it were projectile vomit.

Whilst our local small mindset butcher, baker, candle stick maker has re-invented themselves as full time local councillors with all the competence of a Fred Dibnah trying his hand at flower arranging, the marketing exercise of a lifetime flies past at the speed of a descending peloton; over the hills to Scarboro and far away.

So let's just get on with it.

We're treated like second class citizens, Lowry type head bowed shuffling grey figures to be viewed from a distance with disdain by the high and mighty enjoying a freebie at the tax payers expense.

We simply don't count and they simply don't care.

Julie Dore has to be one of the most loathed, disliked and rightly vilified council leaders in the country. It's well deserved and she brings her own type to the trough.

That's about the sum of it.

Vote them out.

Bang on kid ,when you see em all gobbling up the best seats at the main events despite their record of doing absolutely now't when it comes to things that really matter to this City then it makes you spew .George Orwell's Animal Farm has become a reality in the City.
