Cyclone   10 #98 Posted May 15, 2018 It's not reportable, I didn't say it was. But based on the description Emma gave  "He sped up to get through the lights from the casino/dog track (forget the name of that road), and rather than joining the 2nd lane on Penistone Road, he swerved round the queue that was forming so he could join the inside lane instead."  That's driving without due care. Swerving into a lane without being able to see it's clear, whilst accelerating... To the extent that you can't stop when a hazard actually IS there. Yep, without due care. Guest makapaka   #99 Posted May 15, 2018 Using your expert road traffic law knowledge - enlighten the folk on SF as to the legal position.  You made the observation now back it up. Start with the RTA -  Ah give over.  Give us your expert knowledge on how you think they’ll go about prosecuting the driver.  In fact - if you’re so sure of the legal position- have you reported it to the police? tinfoilhat   11 #102 Posted May 15, 2018 The answer to the thread title is really simple - "No one did". I drove up the A1 this morning and saw a dead pheasant a dead fox and something that might have been a rabbit.  It didn't cross my mind to start a campaign to locate the drivers responsible.  Are you comparing the A1 with penistone road? Yep, without due care.  Is a duck and a number of tiny ducklings a "hazard"?
 Share this content via...
Cyclone   10 #104 Posted May 16, 2018 It's something in the road, it could just have easily been a small dog, perhaps even a child (I've not seen the video, would a child have been visible?)  ---------- Post added 16-05-2018 at 08:27 ----------  Exactly - are they going to prosecute everytime someone hits a pigeon in the road?  Generally when someone hits a pigeon or other animal it's more of a case that they fly or run out in front of the car though. It's not safely avoidable given that the hazard was impossible to predict. Accelerating whilst swerving around queues, these don't sound particularly safe. The car is seen to come from the right and run over the ducks. No one in their right minds can say that the car is speeding or swerving or changing lanes to hit them. It cannot be seen if the driver has a maniacal grin or high forehead ( I believe that is the sign of a rampant duck killer ). It is a clip of a car negotiating a junction safely in regard to other road users and pedestrians. ( not including ducks )  ---------- Post added 16-05-2018 at 09:01 ----------  Ah of course, because why do 8 lives matter? They're not humans.  Oh my god! They are ducks. I really cannot believe you made that comment. Or maybe you said it with tongue in cheek. If so then well played and I will play along.  Maybe we should ask the council to erect a monument. ( not including ducks )  Not speeding though, just faster than the cars in front of it to get through the lights and then getting into the left hand lane instead of joining the queue of cars in the right hand one. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever.
 Share this content via...
