Anyone remember having a "Kazoo"?

Recommended Posts

Going back a bit.........I'm thinking of the old tinplate ones with the tissue paper in the top.

Not that I want one at my age :hihi:

Just wondered if kids still played with them.

I’ve got two! They’re mementoes from pre-war holidays in Cleethorpes and Skegness and they’re currently at rest in a drawer with Key ‘C’ and and Key ‘G’ Bandmaster mouth-organs, purchase price six old pennies! Also got a more modern Harmonica that cost a small fortune! Oh! And a Jaw’s Harp from my school days. Every now and again I give them an airing, so YES — big, very elderly kids do still play with them!

Here's another two novelty musical instruments. The 'Ocarina' and the 'Humanatone'. Remember them?

You can still buy Kazoos, they are for sale in sheffield now, I have one myself made of tin. Many famous rock bands have used them on their recordings.

Thats right a Sheffield band called the "Daisies" used to have a plastic Saxaphone with a Kazoo cellotaped on the mouthpiece..And when Dave Robbo played it, it sounded just like a real Sax..Thats if he had enough echo on the PA.

I wonder if the contributors to this thread owning kazoos were prompted yesterday to do a tune on them? :)

Also. I may be having a senior moment, but didn't there use to be "Kazoo Playing Marching Children's Bands" at one time? :)
