malinb   10 #1 Posted April 11, 2018 Hello. Any ideas on how to make a border with shrubs around the lawn. Also, can I plant immediately after digging excess lawn up or do I need to leave it or add fertiliser? Any suggestions most welcome. Thanks
 Share this content via...
Thorpist   72 #2 Posted April 16, 2018 Consider what width you need to to make it to cope with the shrubs you want. Usually wider is better and gives lots of options. Drainage and aspect need to be considered, if up to a wall will it be dry or boggy, does it get full sun or shaded. Preparing the bed properly will pay dividends when planting shrubs (generally lots of compost.) If you don't fancy the work you could always cover the plot in thick manure then black membrane. On top of this put lots of pots for a year then next year you will have a weed free bed with a lot of the hard work done by worms. Using boards to walk on around the edges of the border will help stop the rounding off of the lawn.
 Share this content via...
