Now that Jeffrey Shaw is a candidate, can we assume that he will avoid moderating, or contributing to any political threads until after the election?

not like any normal job thou is it:roll: they knew what the terms were when running for election and if they didnt like it they could not stand simples

 

I agree; I think it will be a backward step.

 

Female candidates that have a history of stalkers ect, the ladies cannot cope. I think it would be like saying that our country is less safe. Surely there is less crime.

I don't see why they can't reduce the address down to the area of the city i.e city/owlerton/whatever. I don't think there is any need for full address, we all sadly know there are nutters and hateful individuals out there so it does seem sensible to me to not publish it. Can always be retained on record at council office for anyone specifically enquiring.

I usually look at the address to decide who to vote for. In a local election I want to be represented by someone who lives in my area, not on the other side of the city.

Mrs May is <removed> that up. But it will still state that a candidate lives outside of the ward.

 

As part of Whitehall’s effort to tackle intimidation and abuse of people taking part in elections, Mrs May said the Government would bring forward legislation to remove the requirement for candidates in local elections to have their addresses published on ballot papers.

 

This measure would be implemented in time for local elections in May 2019.
