Hi Everyone

 

Just got my 6 monthly water bill from Severn Trent and it's nearly 3 times the usual amount.

 

Wondering if anyone knows how they read my metre as it's at the boundary of my property quite deep underground.

 

Is it read visually or do they have some sort of tool to do it?

 

I'm asking as its unreadable to the naked eye.

Maybe they just had some binoculars?

 

Have you checked they got the readings correct?

I've looked at the metre and the digits are unreadable by eye.

Take a look at the pic, the glass is damaged beyond recognition :/

Is it a smart one they can read by wireless connection??

(It does look kinda old and ropey)

 

Can you clean the glass enough with a brush to read the numbers?

It's certainly not a smart metre.

They only need the black numbers (entire cubic metres).

 

I would be asking for it to be repaired/replaced so that it is readable.

It should have a cap to protect the 'screen'.

They say it's 1284

 

But 1232 would make more sense its what we usually use about 25 units.

Did they read it or is it an estimate? Either way have them change it to 1212.

It was read, badly

 

Been on live chat and they cancelled the bill

and took my reading of 1232.

 

Which is more like we usually pay around 25 units £113

 

Looks like we're getting new metre as well after he saw the state of ours.

 

I'll give them their dues, Severn Trent were great and sorted the problem out

We had a nice surprise our monthly payment went down £2 a month we had to use hose pipe to water the garden, so work that out.
