iansheff   83 #13 Posted April 3, 2018 They went up and down my street yesterday, think it was green bin collection day.
 Share this content via...
willman   10 #14 Posted April 3, 2018 AFAIK the only Bank Holiday they miss is Christmas Day.  That's good service then, our bin men don't collect on Bank Holidays.
 Share this content via...
horribleblob   202 #15 Posted April 3, 2018 A Veolia rubbish lorry was around Gleadless & Manor Top taking photos of some properties. Does anyone know what they were up to?  Not collecting any bins. Don't think they ever collect on bank holidays.  Just took photos of 2 houses next door and then moved on.  If they weren't collecting any rubbish, why would they take a bin lorry (and crew, presumably) just to take photos, when one person with a smartphone and on an Ofo bike would suffice? kaytie   11 #16 Posted April 3, 2018 Ours were due yesterday at Crookes and collected today - post snow. However a few weeks ago when there was snow a bin lorry went up my road without stopping. I assumed it was doing a test run to judge the state of the road prior to a proper collection.
 Share this content via...

The Joker   10 #18 Posted April 4, 2018 Not collecting any bins. Don't think they ever collect on bank holidays.  They collected ours on Friday. [Good Friday]  AFAIK the only Bank Holiday they miss is Christmas Day.  They do collect on Bank holidays.  What they were doing has nothing to do with rubbish collection as they do not do collections on bank holidays!  Well do Veolia collect on Bank Holidays or not?  Let’s ask them, shall we:  Does the black bin service operate on Bank Holidays? Yes, we work on all bank holidays apart from Christmas Day and New Year's Day. If your collection is affected at Christmas/New Year, a tag will be hung on your black bin showing collection details over the holiday period.  https://www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield/collections-home/collections-home/kerbside-collections-and-recycling-faqs/black-bins#q14
 Share this content via...

rabbitfluff   10 #23 Posted April 4, 2018 It was green bin collection day on bank holiday Monday in that area and they collected despite the weather. Maybe as it's a paid service could they have been taking pics of people's bins that hadn't been put out in case they complain about a missed collection. Or something.
