No more Church bells?

Recommended Posts

I hear them. 05:43 every Sunday, BBC R4, 'Bells on Sunday'.

What on earth are you doing up at quarter to six on a Sunday?

nearmind church bells. When I were a lad, boys brigade would come marching round street early Sunday morning and wake the whole community up. It were great.

At a guided tour around the Sheffield Cathedral some years ago we were led up the bell tower where we could take pictures and were also offered the opportunity to have a go at bell ringing.

It was fantastic, I would to do it again, they did say we could come back each week to learn to be a regular bell ringer.

If it had been nearer home to me I would have taken them up on their offer but it was a great experience.

Son does bell ringing when he gets the chance - it's much harder work than it looks! Many's the time he's come away with hands covered in blisters after a long session! Fun though:) (apparently!)
