Where can you fly a drone in Sheffield?

Recommended Posts

Why does anyone want to fly a drone?

I'm not knocking it, I'm just wondering what the attraction is?

I feel the same about model aircraft.  It's something I once enjoyed doing as a young child, but I grew out of it.  Obviously some folk stay hooked for life though?

i fly mine in the local park, still getting used to it and working it with the camera flying with a birds eye view, very good quality for little cost. will use it for work once i get the hang of it to survey properties, roofs etc.

cant see a problem as long as you respect others and dont chase dogs with it.

For me, it's the attraction of having a camera tripod that will extend up to 400ft, and can photograph straight down.

I've started shooting some video footage, but without some kind of purpose for the footage,  it's hard to do anything but copy other shots. The pictures, on the other hand, can be unsual perspectives that make great prints.

I just did it for a bit of fun, it's like driving a remote control car, but harder.

The videos and photos are also just a bit of fun.

I did use it to survey my roof in areas I can't see from the ground though, so that's one practical use.

I've not come across one that doesn't use rechargeable batteries.

Flight time depends on the model of drone.

My Mavic 2 Pro has a stated flight time of 31 minutes, however realistically I'd be back on the ground at around 27 minutes.

Mine typically last in the region of 15 mins and yes they're rechargeable.  I've got several batteries for one of them, so I can swap out and carry on playing.

Surely the best place to fly a drone would be a field - so maybe Dron(e)field?
