Could 1p and 2p coins become a thing of the past?

Back on topic Hackey………

can anybody tell me what good are 1p and 2p coins are, get rid of them they are an absolute nuisance. if you have an Argos catalogue look at the prices.. £69.99. £199. 99. £89.99. stupid. 1p change on almost everything.

£9.99 is psychologically lower then £10 etc and it’s a practice known as psychological pricing= https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_pricing

Nope, people would chuck there 5p coins in the collection box, could even increase there revenue.

When this was being discussed on the BBC the other day, showed a busker in London, (where else), with a card reader attached to her guitar case. While she'll still accept coins thrown into the case, you can tap your debit / credit against the card reader to automatically pay her.

 

Oh & she'd set the reader up to deduct £2 a time! Reet expensive dahn in that theer London town.
