Russian Chemical Weapon attack in Salisbury

Recommended Posts

It seems the people of Russia are now mocking their own security services and the interview by the two tourists seems to have backfired .

No, it seems the intellectuals, independent media and ex security officials are.

The overwhelming majority of the people of Russia will believe that they are innocent civilians because the state and their leader has told them that.

Maria Zhakharova vs Theresa May

The Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria (Vladimirovna) Zakharova has responded to Theresa May‘s claim the two suspects in the Salisbury poisoning case were guilty of lying, labelling the prime minister’s comments “unacceptable”.

Maria Zakharova is well known for various strong-worded criticisms directed at Western powers, and dancing to the Russian song “Kalinka” before a large crowd.

I didn‘t believe in Kremlin Propaganda until I saw Maria Zhakharova dancing…

You state that with the confidence of someone with considerable inside knowledge of the Russian political landscape.

To my mind, Putin's supporters in Russia, of which there are many, will look at this and see Vladimir giving a finger to the arrogant western powers. And they'll lap it up.

So the plot thickens.

What nobody seems to realise is that the fact that their passport numbers were sequential not only shows that they were false names but more importantly, ONLY THE RUSSIAN STATE can provide new, sequential passports like that which is evidence that they were working for state security as opposed to being rogue agents moonlighting.

When they appeared on Russian TV with an implausible story of being tourists viewing the Cathedral I was suspicious, but saw no reason to be certain they were concealing their true identity without someone recognising who they were.

Now that the true identity of one of them has been revealed I wouldn't be at all surprised if other details were being kept secret.

Not only were these passports sequentially numbered but were apparently part of a batch of sequential passport numbers issued to others suspected of being GRU agents.

If so, that is a massive blunder by the Russian intelligence agency. All modern immigration systems scan and log passport details in their own databases. That makes it incredibly easy for any state where those passports were used, to look for trends.

If a batch of Russian passports numbered 71 1232845 to 71 1232855 contained the two Skripal dudes and two other known GRU agents then we most likely have the passport numbers of six other agents and therefore their cover names if they ever travel outside Russia.

Amateur in the extreme!!
