Mrennie28 Â Â 10 #3 Posted February 26, 2018 They plan to extend the South Stand by 5,400 seats to increase the capacity to 38,000. Other plans to develop the Kop Stand has been approved alongside to build 52 studio homes on John Street, but more than 10,000 square metre of space will be created for events plus a new 261 space car park. The decision is due in Mid-April.
 Share this content via...

geared   306 #5 Posted February 26, 2018 If it all lays within the existing boundry of the stadium I see no problem.  The land is boarderd on all sides by roads, they can't move those.
 Share this content via...
Guest   #6 Posted February 28, 2018 Probably won't make any difference to be honest, for parking other otherwise to be honest. Generally have no issues even on match day. Although people park anywhere they can on Cherry St, not sure if double yellows on there are suspended on match days?
 Share this content via...
Unitedite   10 #7 Posted March 1, 2018 I live nearby and have a season ticket. The development plans are more for tactical reasons than any desire to start work imminently. Major building work is unlikely unless we manage a run of Premier League seasons.  It's good to have these plans to showcase the potential of the ground to new investors, and I understand that new/more detailed plans may have needed to be submitted in order to maintain extant planning permission.  The Kop is in most serious need of work doing to it, but ideally it would be knocked down and completely rebuilt, which doesn't seem likely.  I welcome the plans - I don't really see why there would be a negative impact on the local area.  Here are a few articles (the kop one is two years old):  https://www.sufc.co.uk/news/2017/december/south-stand-plans/ https://www.insidermedia.com/insider/yorkshire/blades-to-kickstart-bramall-lane-redevelopment
 Share this content via...

Jeffrey Shaw   90 #9 Posted March 4, 2018 I see a surface car park and think "If it has to stay that way, why can't a building on stilts be built over it?"  ---------- Post added 04-03-2018 at 22:05 ----------  The Cricket Pavilion has got to go. Yes, it's been caught out. I'm stumped that you didn't know.
 Share this content via...
