If we're trying avoid trauma for girls and young women, compulsory intimate examinations aren't really the way to go.

As opposed to what, FGM?  It'd be a minor infringement to protect their interests and safeguard them against FGM. But, like I said, authorities aren't really committed to stamping it out.

Do you honestly believe that a young female fearing FGM is going to be troubled by the prospect of a physical examination that will incriminate her parents and elders should they carry out the procedure?

I really want people who engage in this to be prosecuted and agree it needs stamping out, without any shackles of PCness.

But, you can't do annual examinations of all muslim girls. If there was an equivalent thing being done by non-muslim people, I wouldn't accept my daughter being examined annually. This aspect is a non-starter.

Religion shouldn't come into it. Authorities need to focus on the crime that's being committed. If Muslims are committing the crime, authorities should focus  their attention on Muslim's.

We either recognise it as a crime and put measures in place that safeguard the interests of the most vulnerable girls, or we do nothing  and simply accept that religious and cultural diversity isn't without compromise.

Yeah. But you added that it's a none starter unless  there were similar measures brought in for none Muslim's.

Why?

Apologies. Just re-read it. My bad.

I didn't. I said if they wanted to do annual checks on my daughter, I wouldn't allow it.

No probs.

I'm doing a screenshot of this page though, as it's the first time I've ever seen anybody apologise for anything, ever, on here!! 😉
