That would be correct wouldn’t it? What else can they go on?

You don’t void a general election cos all only 2/3 turnout.

They could try reading Sheffield Forum for a start.

Seriously, with modern technology, do they still have to use leafletting? Couldn't they use social media as well?

I don’t think they did do leafletting - it was on their website.

As for reading sheffield forum - I don’t think so....

SF is hardly a bellwether of Sheffield opinion. In every poll conducted on here about the results of local elections I cannot recall a single one which called the result correctly.

Maybe. But have you seen the Council's website? It's absolutely antiquated, and I find it incredibly hard to find anything, (I admit that might just be me.)

Surely in this day and age it should be a lot simpler to find information and get in touch with people. And adding a poll or two would at least be a guide to what the Sheffield people are thinking.

You can sign up to their mailing list.

I’m on it, thank goodness. Otherwise I wouldn’t have known that it was going to be cold last week and that I should wear warm clothes.

:loopy: If we did have a council tax rise, I bet they would just squander it on repairing the roads or something

I wasn't asked, but if I had been the answer would have been a NO!

I think that would also be the case in the vast majority of the cities population and one of the reasons very few knew about the survey.

Why come on here moaning, not getting anywhere, other than the usual

replies from the resident so-called experts.

Why not contact your local councillors, by phone or e-mail

Am not saying you are going to get satisfaction, but at least you

will have a name to blame

Its easy to find the councillors, details link below

I imagine a lot of people on here have done just that.

I took part in the survey, if I remember correctly it was posted on the SCC Twitter feed.

My views, in a nutshell, were to put up Council Tax if it was being used for the correct services.

My biggest bugbear being recycling/litter etc, and then I read this and thought "great!";

Social care, education and waste, and recycling were identified by participants as the most important services

And then snuck in at the end;

It now claims to have achieved that through a variety of measures, including big savings in its waste and recycling contract with Veolia, which will result in less frequent recycling collections.

Thanks SCC, now we don't have to worry about social care etc. because we will just drown in all the litter and tons of flytipped crap that is left around this city.

Not sure I want tax to go up as the only benefit I see is rubbish collection. Surely that doesn't cost 1000 pounds.
