SheffWise 10 #1 Posted January 25, 2018 Hi Everyone, I’m just getting into cricket and was recently given a bag full of gear. Unfortunately there isn’t a bat! Can anyone recommend where I can get one from? I don’t want to pay more than £100 really. I didn’t realise how much a proper bat cost so I would be willing to buy one second hand as long as it is in decent condition. Unbelievably neither Decathlon nor Sports Direct stock cricket bats so I’m probably looking at smaller specialist shops or online. Any advice would be most gratefully received. Thank you
 Share this content via...
Naive 10 #2 Posted January 25, 2018 Decathlon used to sell them. I have a Kookaburra that you can have if you like. The edges are a bit worn, but the middle is hardly used.
 Share this content via...
andyofborg 11 #3 Posted January 25, 2018 you might do better looking a bit nearer the start of the cricket season i imagine, apart from you, there isn't much demand for them this time of year
 Share this content via...
charliewag 18 #4 Posted January 25, 2018 I don't know if it's still trading but there was a cricket shop on Penistone rd near Hillfoot bridge. ( the units just past Monty's motors ).
 Share this content via...
tinfoilhat 11 #5 Posted January 25, 2018 I think you could still get a half decent bat for £100. But I'd try and find a specialist shop that sells them so you can pick one and see how it feels. It's not the sort of thing I'd buy online (and I buy EVERYTHING online) unless I'd held the same model first. Ask your club mates when you're at winter nets next time. Eccy Beach 11 #10 Posted January 26, 2018 I'll second Sheaf Sports at Darnall - not been there for a while but got all my equipment from there from playing junior cricket to adult leagues. I've had Kookabura and Gray Nicholls bats but by far and away my favourite was my Slazenger V600
 Share this content via...

Jammie 10 #12 Posted January 27, 2018 Try owzat cricket; its at Alfreton though They will have some last season season cricket bats on sale. https://www.owzat-cricket.co.uk/ Is the website; but you are better off getting a feel of the bat before buying. The indoor nets place at Petre street also sell reasonable cricket bats
 Share this content via...
