max   13 #37 Posted January 28, 2018 There has been loads of reports in newspapers of Richard Caborn( among others) offering Government connections for cash , one was around March 2010 when a price of £2500 plus EXPENCIES ? was mentioned to an undercover fake lobby company . Gordon Brown said at the time that he was appalled at such behavior .  In 2008 Caborn was paid £75000 per year by the nuclear industry again as a consultant He was also mentioned in the expenses scandal when it seems as though he claimed for various things that any one in an ordinary job would have to pay for themselves.  All these little sweeteners( if that is what they were) are easy to find on line and one must make ones own mind up as to the accuracy of the reporting of them .  So no brown envelopes/back pockets then. I'll pass on your apology should I ever get the chance.
 Share this content via...

I sir , have never mentioned brown envelopes , although if South Yorkshire has to have a Mayor let us hope that due diligence will be taken in choosing the candidates as it would be unfair to our South Yorkshire neighbors if the wrong one got the job due to connections in high places , we are all socialists around here are we not:hihi:. nohands   10 #40 Posted January 31, 2018 We already have Sheffield City Region, who have a director and a squadron of Assistant Directors. Don't know who they are directing but it sounds like they are well financed. In lieu of a mayor, who are they answerable to? ANGELFIRE1 Â Â 10 #42 Posted February 1, 2018 (edited) Seems Dan Jarvis the Liebour MP for Barnsley has thrown his hat into the ring to be Sheffield City Region Mayor. A big plus for him?, says he will do the job for nowt, zilchn, nothing. Says he will remain as the MP for T'arn and do both jobs together. Â Is it possible, or is been an MP a full time job. Jeffrey Shaw   90 #43 Posted February 1, 2018 Calling it 'Sheffield City Region' is absurd, too. Either it's South Yorkshire or it's a larger area.
 Share this content via...
smiggs   10 #44 Posted February 1, 2018 Calling it 'Sheffield City Region' is absurd, too. Either it's South Yorkshire or it's a larger area.  City regions are supposed to be based around the economic activity of a city and it originally included Chesterfield, other bits of Derbyshire and Bassetlaw which is why they gave it a different name.  Sad that we can't put differences aside and get the pot of money from government.
